After a thorough drying, attached the blocks to a piece of roofing felt. Then I applied clear shellac. Didn\u2019t expect the result to be so glossy.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class='centered' src=\"\/images\/FurtherFromTruth4_IMG_2857.jpg\" alt=\"Further from the Truth\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class='centered' src=\"\/images\/FurtherFromTruth5_IMG_2863.jpg\" alt=\"Further from the Truth\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>I used the same processes and materials for the separate test piece. After a thorough drying, I sanded the exposed white bamboo areas, then applied a product that I hoped would replace roofing tar. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class='centered' src=\"\/images\/FurtherFromTruth6_IMG_2865.jpg\" alt=\"Further from the Truth\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Not sure what I think of the result.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class='centered' src=\"\/images\/FurtherFromTruth7_IMG_2861.jpg\" alt=\"Further from the Truth\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The second test\u2013To dull the finish and age it a bit, I applied a thin application of Rust-Oleum 2X Painter&#8217;s Touch Ultra Cover Matte Clear Spray Paint.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class='centered' src=\"\/images\/FurtherFromTruth8_IMG_2879.jpg\" alt=\"Further from the Truth\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Before I decide how to complete the piece, I am thinking about trying another test with paste wax. <\/p>\n<p>I think that sanding the piece so that some of the code is frayed would be appropriate for the quote.<br \/>\n.<b><\/p>\n<p>The quote is often attributed to George Orwell, but it seems that the author is Selwyn Duke.<\/p>\n<p>Materials\u2013Bamboo paper towel (white fabric), bamboo thread, safety pins, tree wrap, roofing felt, PVA, shellac.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another piece that I am attempting to complete.
