A few days ago my husband and I celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary. Each year I make a piece to mark the day. This year I made a little book that contains images of all of our bunny companions.

Flash cards 9″ x 3″, kraft paper, roofing felt, tree wrap, printed photos and labels, contact paper, PVA, cotton and linen cord, pit fired ceramic beads, wax, hardware cloth, and crimping sleeves.
They are so bonded at times they look like one bunny.

It is still growing in between a fence and a privacy fence.
Even in lousy conditions, the Trapped Cactus blooms!
Dash hadn’t seemed quite right for a couple of days. Wednesday morning he wasn’t able to stand. Back leg weakness is a common problem with older bunnies. He wasn’t interested in eating or drinking. Bad sign. He let me hold him. He actually laid on my chest. It is a selfish thing. When bunnies are unwell they often don’t resist being held. Dash had a seizure. Then he died.
Six months ago Elliot died, now Dash. The house seems so empty.
What do you do with all of the care, love, energy, and time that belonged to the furry ones?

This morning I applied liquid starch to the vessel. It is not yet dry.
Today is the anniversary of my mother’s death. The plant that she gave me is still doing well. It is a joy when a plant gift thrives.

Materials–knitted linen, dried succulent flowers, wood, metal, beads, starch.
The succulent was a gift from my mother. The metal plate was amongst my father’s things in his workshop.

The plant is the Red Velvet Echeveria.

Combed the back side of the coco blanket liner for easier removal of the book. Also applied PVA to the interior to secure the blanket in place. It was staying in with friction, but PVA will prevent the blanket from pulling out when removing the book.
Added to the fiber to cover a paper bowl (paper left over from another piece). After the bowl dries, I plan to do some stitchwork and code.

Application of wax to seal the cardboard, soften the feel of the material, and to add some age. Once set, I will give the wax a buff.
The wax is soft, easy to apply, and does not have a harsh odor. It mixes nicely with a variety of materials.
